Turbine and TDBFP Overspeed & Oil Injection Test Procedure


Oil Injection of Main Turbine:
  • Press Test Valve
  • Turn Test Hand-wheel Anticlockwise slowly ( to develop Test Oil)
  • Note Turbine Speed, Test Oil Pressure, Primary Oil Pressure when Bolts Operate(Aux Trip Oil becomes 0)
  • Turn Test Hand-wheel Clockwise slowly (Test Oil pressure becomes 0)
  • Press Reset Valve(Aux start up oil develops and Aux trip Oil becomes equal to the value before test)
  • Slowly Release Reset valve
  • Slowly Release Test Valve
Overspeed Test of Main Turbine
  • Turbine Warm ( TSI expansions values >80% of Full Load )
  • MS/HRH Steam Temp must be 30 Deg Superheat & >30 Deg of HP/IP Inner Casing Temp
  • Turbine Speed=3000rpm, Heat soaked, Desynchronised
  • Excitation OFF, FCB Open
  • RTS ATT, Oil Injection(within 15 days AND more than 1 day before the test) has been done prior before actual test
  • Actual Speed to be measured using Stroboscope and Speed Sensor
  • Two Persons at Front Pedestal. One, for Checking actuation of Trip Bolt; Second, for Tripping Turbine (Speed>3300 rpm)by Hand at Protection Rack near Manual Trip Gear
  • Desynchronise turbine, Maintain speed 3000 rpm, Switch Off Excitation, Maintain Steam temperatures(MS =60-65 ksc & 520-540 Deg ; HRH=6-8 ksc & 540 Deg)
  • HP Casing Temp/Shaft Temp=520-530 Deg
  • Measure TG Speed Using Tachometer, stroboscope ; compare with UCB (Note error)
  • Set both Bolt Tripping electrical value at 3300 rpm.
  • Speed should be maximised (3100-3150 rpm) through EHC
  • Put Machine in Hydraulic using Speeder Gear from Desk
  • Raise Starting Device to 100 %
  • Droop set at 7% at 100 % Hydraulic Demand
  • Raise Turbine speed by speeder Gear to 100 % from Governing Rack
  • Further Raise speed by Overspeed Knob
  • Note Speed at which Bolt Operate and Primary Oil Pressure at that point
  • Put Electrical Overspeed to normal value after Test

Oil Injection of TDBFP Turbine
  • Turbine at 5300 rpm
  • Press Test Lever and Lock it ( Tripping of overspeed bypass)
  • Open Manual Valve Before DC Valve
  • Turn Anticlockwise Regulating valve, Observe Test oil develops
  • Note Bolt operation and Record Test oil Pressure
  • Turn Clockwise Regulating valve, Test oil becomes 0
  • Close Manual valve before DC valve
  • Unlock Test Lever and Release
Actual Overspeed of TDBFP Turbine
  • Electrical Overspeed tripping be checked at 3000 rpm
  • Turbine Soaked and TSI within 80 % of full Load
  • Raise Turbine rpm in step of 20 rpm after 5500 rpm
  • Note down speed at which Bolt Operate
